Who is Dr. Jitendra Adhia

He is an MD doctor, mind power trainer and author of over 130 books, known for his book on inspiration and his work in training and life coaching. In this conversation he speaks as the guest behind the Ageless Bharat Mission.

What is the Ageless Bharat Mission

The mission aims to teach people across India how to stay mentally young and keep their body young for as long as possible. Dr. Adhia says the goal is simple: make age just a number.

He explains that every person carries three kinds of age:

Type of ageWhat it meansCan you influence it?
Calendar ageThe age written on your Aadhaar card or birth certificateNo, it only moves forward
Mental ageHow old you feel and thinkYes, through mindset and programming
Biological ageThe age of the cells in your bodyYes, he says it follows your mental age and lifestyle

His central claim is that cell age follows mental age, not the birth certificate. Change your thinking and your habits, and the body tends to respond. That is his view and experience, not a proven medical guarantee.

The lifestyle formula behind staying young

Dr. Adhia says lifestyle does most of the work. He describes his own day as a disciplined routine rather than a secret pill.

He sleeps eight hours, from 10 PM to 6 AM. From 6 AM to 10 PM he stays active, and around two to three hours of that go into his health: walking, yoga, gym, exercise and pranayama.

The three types of food

Food typeMeaningHis advice
God’s foodRaw food from the earth such as salad and fruitMake it half of your plate
Human foodHome cooked meals from your kitchenMake it the other half
Devil’s foodPackaged food and frequent food delivery ordersKeep it to the minimum

He is clear that he is not against food apps. They are fine in an emergency. The problem is making packaged or delivered food a daily habit.

Stress is the silent ager

He believes much of ageing comes from stress, and much of stress comes from unnecessary desires and too much time on media. He gives a personal example. He could easily buy a luxury car but drives an ordinary Toyota, because he does not feel the need to show off. Fewer unnecessary wants, he says, means less stress.

Meditation, pranayama and nature

He says meditation and pranayama have a big role in his routine, and he has recently become deeply interested in the Patanjali Yoga Sutras. He also stresses reconnecting with nature, because many people live in air conditioned rooms with no sunlight or fresh air. His own practices include sitting in morning sun, walking barefoot and sun gazing at sunrise. Sun gazing can harm the eyes; treat this as his personal practice and take medical advice before copying it.

Mind power: mind vs brain

A big part of the talk was about the mind. Dr. Adhia uses a computer comparison:

  • The brain is the hardware.
  • The mind is the software.
  • The conscious mind is the programmer.
  • The subconscious mind is the programmable computer.

According to him, our behaviour is shaped by three things: our thinking pattern, our belief system and our habits. He notes that around 90 percent of daily actions run on habit, from brushing teeth to driving. If a habit is wrong, such as sleeping at 3 AM, it keeps running even without the trigger.

The jail of beliefs

He describes two kinds of beliefs. Empowering beliefs push you forward. Disempowering beliefs hold you back. He calls this the jail of beliefs, a jail where you are the judge, the prisoner and the jailer at the same time. He shares that he himself believed for years that he could not do business, and that he left his 30 year government job only after breaking that belief.

He says the subconscious mind responds to five programming languages:

LanguageSimple meaning
IntentionA clear decision about what you want
IdentificationChoosing a role model
VisualisationSeeing the goal in your mind
AffirmationRepeating positive statements
FeelingAttaching emotion to the goal

He compares the subconscious mind to a GPS. You enter the destination, and it guides you with intuition along the way.

Motivation vs purpose

Dr. Adhia does not like being called a motivational speaker. He calls motivation a mental Viagra, an energy boost that fades in about seven days. A trainer, he says, shows you the practical path.

  • External motivation: comes from a speaker or an event and has an expiry date.
  • Internal motivation: comes from a clear purpose and does not expire.

His own early drive came from escaping poverty, since he grew up in a single room with nine family members. Today his driving force is contribution, and he wants to help millions of people through the Ageless Bharat and Patanjali Yoga missions.

Daily habits you can start today

You do not need to copy his routine exactly. These are simple starting points drawn from the episode:

  • Fix a sleep schedule and stick to it.
  • Fill half your plate with fruit and salad.
  • Cut down delivered and packaged food.
  • Spend 30 minutes outdoors in sunlight and fresh air.
  • Add yoga, pranayama or meditation to your morning.
  • Remove one source of unnecessary stress this week.
  • Write down your purpose in one clear sentence.
  • Make small decisions daily and follow through to build willpower.

Willpower, addiction and positive thinking

Dr. Adhia says willpower is only about one percent of total mind power, while the subconscious holds the rest. He suggests building willpower with small decisions that you actually complete.

For strong habits such as smoking, he says physical dependence can make willpower alone insufficient, and he points to techniques like NLP as an aid. He also warns that positive thinking without action can become a trap. Saying everything is fine while having no job, income or plan keeps a person stuck. His view is to keep high ambition, but control the stress that comes with it so that health and family life do not suffer.

Mental health

On mental health, he was careful. He said suicidal thoughts are linked to severe depression and need proper medical treatment from a psychiatrist, not mind programming. He said he refers such cases to psychiatrists. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to a qualified doctor or a trusted person right away.

Company, money and purpose

He believes your environment matters a lot. His advice is to warn negative people once or twice and then remove them from your circle. He also shares a money view that got attention: build an investment portfolio as a reliable income source for later life, which he calls a virtual son. That is his metaphor, not investment advice.

For anyone starting from zero, he says to first find the purpose of your life. When purpose is clear, the subconscious mind helps create the action plan.
